As reports start pouring in of sex crazed maniacs, the government begins to set up check points and quarantines making it clear that this is no ordinary outbreak. Nick and his girlfriend Lucy must escape the city before all routes out are closed, but the changed men and women seeking to slate their lust stand in their way.
The major cities of the world have fallen into a massive centers of sex driven chaos. The remaining leaders have convened in a secret bunker to start establishing a response to the quickly spreading virus. Meanwhile, thousands have fled the cities and now seek refuge in the countryside. Philip and Anna have made it as far as they can, but they've run out of gas near a remote farm. Something is odd about the old barn on the property and the old widow, Elaine, seems a little too friendly.
Despite troubling news about a virus sweeping the nation, John decides to go ahead with his church retreat. Taking twenty young men and women, he travels to a remote campsite in the mountains. The innocent group spends the week around the campfire or playing games to bond, but they are unaware of what's happening in the rest of the world as the virus closes in around them.
Panic seems to be mounting in the world about an unusual virus when an unusual traffic accident draws Dr. Richard Hayman's attention. A young woman comes in with multiple injuries, but soon she is healing rapidly. The hospital is quarantined, but a different kind of swelling has already begun.

Henry Yates chronicles the fall of society from the isolation of his quarters on board the Canoy, a freighter stranded somewhere off the Eastern Coast. He and hundreds of others escaped the infected during the initial outbreak, which he recounts in his journal as he contemplates his newest problem. After a supply run to the shore, one of his crew came back acting strangely.
In a refugee camp in the northern part of Alabama, Micah quickly learns that life after society's collapse isn't all it's cracked up to be. The camps are crowded, food is short, and the infected lurk somewhere beyond the wall. Alarms are raised when the PA system is hijacked and a deranged soldier starts praising the infected as a salvation for humanity.
During a routine supply run to one of the many surviving colonies in the red zone, Eli and Mason crash land in a forest several miles from a safe haven.
